ACTIVITIES There
is plenty to see and do at the Aro'a
Beachside Inn, depending of course
on whether you can tear yourself
away from the magnificent sight of
cyrstal clear waters, superb sunsets
and soft white sand!
Here at Aro'a, we have a number
of activities you can participate
in, or facilities you can use.
These include:
Push Bikes - find your way around
our small island, which is mostly
flat on the main roads and take a
picnic for the day.
Water sports - We have kayaks
and snorkelling equipment/reef
shoes available for you to use at
any time.
Extra activities - We can also
supply you with the equipment for Boules,
Badminton, Horse Shoes, Book Swap
Library and a variety of Board
Games.
ROD OR POLE FISHING
We have a limited range of rods
and lures available so if you are a
professional it may be a good idea
to bring your own special rod. A
lot of action can be found right in
front of the property or a short
walk along to a stream outlet
usually produces good results. We
recommend good fun 'catch and
release' as there is plenty of Jim's
fish on the BBQ.
NON-ACTIVITIES
Where our guests just can't leave
the office behind - we have an
'ergonomically designed' situation
especially for you - our
'Stress Management Office'. |

There
is plenty to see and do after dark
in Rarotonga, particularly on a
Friday night. One of the best ways
to find out which ‘establishment’
you might like to spend more time at
is to go on a good old fashioned
‘pub crawl’.
Two resorts, the Edgewater and
the Rarotonga resort have these and
all you have to do is book. Or you
can organise your own! The night
life really kicks in after 9pm, and
the crawl usually starts off at the
Tumumu, where “Eric the Mad” a
Welshman, is particularly good at
entertaining.
The Golf Club is next on the
list, followed by a visit to the RSA
to pick up your Tiare Maori flower.
You wear it behind your right ear if
married, left ear if single… is
better than looking for a wedding
ring on a dark night! The largest
Steinlagers on the island are served
at the next stop, which is the Coco
Bar, before heading off to the
Fishing Club and learning first hand
exactly how men can not only
redefine the size of a fish, but the
ocean as well with just one hand.
The Hideaway Bar is next on the
tour, followed by BC where you can
really get a taste for cocktails.
Trader Jacks’ (see below) is next
and then its finally off to the
Staircase for a bit of Karaoke and a
chance to dance the rest of the
night away.
If you have any energy left,
there is always The Rock Bar and
TJ’s nightclub to really round your
night off. Such local characters as
Trader Jacks, a wonderful watering
hole perched right on the ocean
front in Avarua, where you can enjoy
the most sublimely wonderful seafood
meals, or simply sit and listen to
the colourful locals (including
Trader Jack himself) compete at the
telling of very tall tales while
they permanently “test” the beer to
make sure it is worth drinking.
The perverse logic in that
somehow makes a lot of sense when
you combine the warm, sunny days,
balmy evenings and laid-back great
company you are getting while they
teach you how to become
knowledgeable ‘tasters’ as well!
